-very dissatisfied with Travcoa
-booked a Private Bhutan 4 day trek for March 2009
-requested own private guide that we had used the year previously on the first trip to Bhutan that was a hotel stay not a trek
-Travcoa put together the itinerary for a 4 day trek to Ghasa Hotsprings - the reservation agent claimed that she trekked in Bhutan multiple times and was going to put together a great itinerary making sure that the clients did not hike on the same trails they had been on the year before
-it turns out that Ghasa hotsprings was a 2 hour trek not a 4 day trek as made out to be on the itinerary
-despite travel agent asking for feedback on the itinerary from the guide (the guide had already been told to keep his mouth shut from the Bhutan ground operator who is being used by Travcoa to supply the horses, supplies, and guides, etc.)
-the cost of the trip was $25k for 3 people, it was supposedly a Luxury tour operator only offering the best in luxury travel and service and being very knowledgeable of the mountains of Bhutan
-when arrived in Bhutan customers found out that their trek was only a 2 hour trek
-first night in tent it rained, the customers got wet due to leaking tents, inadequate bedding to keep warm,
-second day - the private guide (luckily he decided to take them on his own trek) went back to his home, got extra blankets for everyone,
-very poor quality bedding for a luxury tour operator
-they had tried to contact the ground operator who refused to even help when asked for help
-all in all -- Travcoa cut back on using reliable ground operators in Bhutan -- did not monitor quality control and took these customers for a real bad ride...gave a $3k refund for their trouble but did not admit to bad business practice.
