Review 11/15/2011
Usaparis, connected with imarketers and homeintown ltd are part of a fraudulent circle. Not only was the property which I rented at a cost of close to $500 a night in paris not as it was advertised (it’s supposed to be a 2 bedroom but the stairs to the upstairs “room” was in the first room – and the open shower was in the first room as well so there is no privacy at all, be it sleeping or showering – see LOFT_WASHINGTON review by Gina T.). But that is not the point of this note. The point is that they are a fraud – and they do it by keeping your security deposit. I had to send a check in for the amount of $500, which was to be refunded to me after the stay. I didn’t read the fine print, which was my fault, but it takes them 30 days to refund the check. I waited over 30 days and there was no refund so I told them I would write poor reviews about them online and they pointed me to the terms and conditions – which were on the their website – saying that I would breach the agreement if I complained. They then said it’s ok for them to keep my security deposit bc I complained about not getting it back and called them too many times. The only reason I called was bc I didn’t get it back after 30 days. Their response was, “We are busy.” They couldn’t even give me an estimate as to when I should expect my refund. Just based on these terms alone, I should have known it was a fraud – no company keeps your security deposit for 30 days after the check out date and no company forces you to accept terms such as “no complaints” – I would stay away from this company no matter how great the deal appears to be or how much of a discount they offer. There are so many other companies out there.

I also noticed that they use other names on tripadvisor to “credit” themselves – the same “angry” tone is used multiple times.

Business's response - by Peter v.on 11/16/2011
You have contacted us about your SD well before the 30 days average handling time and we have explained you the situation in several emails. Once again: >>> UsaParis has passed the Property Management to a local Company, named HomeInTown. We have seen that the apartments were not being treated well by a minority of customers. So to bring this situation to an end, HomeInTown is applying a strict policy and checks out in detail each apartment carefully. You have been informed about the situation with multiple occasions, so we do not understand what the reasons behind your complaints are. As in any similar business, the number of communications included in the basic rental package is limited because resources are limited; we were in the position to remind you of this aspects because you did not seem to appreciate our fast responses to any of your emails but you kept emailing with the same subject and expecting a different response when the procedure of the security deposit was presented clearly to you. Furthermore, you threatened us and use strong words like “fraud”, which put us in the position to analyze your case with our legal department since we are BBB certified and take our business and reputation very seriously. You have at your disposal a mediation service for any claims that you might have, but you have chosen not to use it and we cannot understand why you would rather chose to act unfair towards Usaparis, a company that assisted you in the best possible way in finding a great accommodation in Paris and all the way along and that has not responsibility in the SD refund, since this is with the Property Manager and the Owner. You may want to check the legislation in France, which governs your rental, in order to get a confirmation that the SD procedure HomeInTown performs is legal and it actually allows Usaparis to be able to offer to other future tenants properties that are are extremely well maintained, with exceptional features and in perfect condition.
