Review 5/6/2010
The move was from Md. to Tennessee. The initial quote I received was fair at $3,123 and was quoted for 10,000 pounds based on our inventory list. Trans National contracted out the movers to a company called COVAN. Our stuff was to be picked up and placed in storage for 2 weeks and then delivered to Tennessee on a Monday and was confirmed by Marcie that this would not be a problem. I figured it shouldn't be a problem since I scheduled this move a month ahead of time. The week before the delivery date I called Marcie to verify that our stuff would arrive in the afternoon on Monday like we had discussed weeks earlier. She returned my call to tell me nonchalantly that the delivery would happen later in the week, but didn't have an official day. I asked if I was supposed to live in an empty house for a week until they decided to delivery my stuff and the reply was that no one ever guarantees a one day delivery time. After a lot of arguing and a completely unprofessional customer service on her part I ended the call with I want my stuff on Monday like we discussed. Days later I finally got confirmation from her that they would deliver my stuff on Monday like promised. When the movers arrived they showed up in an 18 wheeler which clearly was not going to fit in our driveway (Go Figure). Who takes a Semi to the hills of Tennessee with out asking if it will fit? After hours of trying to figure out what they were going to do they decided they would have to rent a U-haul and off load it and delivery the following morning. Later that evening I received a call from Al from COVAN saying that it would cost me another $679 to have it delivered. I said I would pay for the rental but I shouldn't have to pay for them to off load it when they should have brought a truck similar to the one that picked up my stuff in Md. He said that either I pay the amount or it would go back to storage in Va. I said fine take it back to storage because I am not paying it. 5 minutes later Marcie from Trans National Van Lines called saying they needed to make the delivery and do I want my stuff. I said of course but this is the purest form of highway robbery and I will not pay that. She said we can do it for $450 and we are not making a dime on it and we just need to delivery it. After arguing once again and stressed from dealing with them for the last 2 days I said fine just bring my stuff back so I can be done with your company. So after all of that I am out over $3500 bucks, countless broken dishes, glasses, art work, Picture Frames, 44" TV, and a wine rack. I have never gone through such a miserable move like this in my life. To add fuel to the fire Kevin Sanders who is the Operations Manager from Trans National Van Lines is now threatening me with litigation because I left a negative review on a moving review website.......Aren't review sites for the purpose of leaving a review, good or bad? How else are we to know what company is worth using? This is how they treat customers who are dissatisfied; rather than calling to ask what they can do to make amends they file suit against you.
